Feather cutting templates are a great way to make you own custom fletching's for your next arrow build. You can build a feather burner if you can find the right components, but a cutting template it takes the heavy lift out of making custom fletching's.
I used the templates found here www.customthumbrings.com. Their offerings have something for everyone. Check out the website to find your perfect fletch design for your next arrow build.

Outsert Fix
Переглядів 12319 годин тому
Outserts are great and inexpensive way to add field point and broadheads to your arrow builds. They can, however, create an arow pull problem from certain targets. This video covers how to fix the arrow outsert issue. All outserts have a raised edge to them and can damage certain types of target faces when removing arrows. To fix this you must something to bevel the edge of the outsert. This vi...

Static Spine Why It Matters
Переглядів 8152 місяці тому
Static Spine and why it matters. One of the first steps when choosing arrows for your new bow is selecting the correct static spine. Static spine affects how your arrows actually leave the bow. Too much flex you get erratic arrow flight, too little flex you get the same. Will you ever get it perfect, most likely no, but you can get it close and save yourself a lot of frustration when shooting. ...

Coming in at 35lbs draw weight with a max draw length of 33 inches it moves arrows down range effortlessly. The Hankyu bow is a part of the Yumi bow family. At 71 inches total length it is still considered a short bow. After some time shooting this bow, I have...

    Scott, as always you have a great tips and I’m in the process of trying to make my own Bamboo Arrows as I’ve recently collected two different Manchu Bows from Alibow. And I also recently purchased a Long Hankyu from Sarmat. So I guess we’re on the same path together!!! Thanks for sharing! l appreciate your insight and advice !!! Please Keep It Up!! Thanks Bill

      Thank you my friend. I really appreciate the time and the comment. Seems we are on the same path. The Hankyu bow is an amazing bow when you get used to it. I love mine and it’s a joy to shoot. The Manchu has been the bow I’ve wanted for a couple of years and thankful I was able to purchase one. The arrows are the key to get maximum use from the Manchu. With what I have currently I am unable to get to the full 35 draw. I could purchase a ready made set but the challenge of doing it myself is very appealing to me. I appreciate you my friend. Keep me posted on your journey! Have a great evening. Best regards.

    Hi Scott, I do the same mod to my outsert's made things much better, I just put the point in the drill and use a fine file to put a nice long chamfer on the outsert then finnish with fine sandpaper. You can pin them with a little brass nail countersunk and piened over for more security if you have problems. I recognise that bow sleeve and am looking forward to the review, been looking at bows just like it. Your content is greatly appreciated Peace Happiness Friend ✌️

    Hey Scott, been a minute...I know exactly what you're talking about here, because I had the reverse problem with some old wooden arrows I've been using with a 30# recurve. Believe it or not, finding 11/32 glue on points on Amazon is a real challenge, so I opted for 85 grain 15/16 field points. Because I'm shooting them from a 30# bow, I'm not overly concerned with their weight, but getting them on the 11/32 shafts proved to be a challenge. What I ended up doing was drilling a 15/16 hole in a small oak board, using a guide to make sure the hole was 90 degrees to the board. Then I put it in a vice and carefully spun the shaft into the hole in the board to compress just enough of the shaft tip to get the 15/16 field point to go on and it worked fine, no lip where the open end of the point meets the shaft. Again, since these arrows will only be shot from a 30# bow, I don't think compressing the shaft tip has compromised it to the point where it will cause a problem and so far, it hasn't been.

    Longbow-heavy wood arrows! Every time I hear somebody complain about hand shock I know they are compound shooters. I bought an SAS longbow (45#, 68inches) and use the Chinese arrows of 700 gr and notice no hand shock at all. All the little girls complain about the hand shock of this bow!

    Yep, as a beginner it is being a nightmare trying to tune an arrow... I never know if the shots are all around the target because they are out or if it my grip, or my release.... I made a video and it seems my bow hand is jumping to the left ( right handed archer) when I release the arrow... and my arrows are landing to the left of the target... but they seem a bit weak ( 45 recurve GT warrior 500 spine 28" carbon length 300 grains total point... I've tried to drop to 275grains, not much of a difference))

    Considering buying this bow as a starter. If i do, several videos recommended a different string, what string do you recommend? Also, do i order a 58" inch string? Thanks for your videos.

    • @ScottWinters
      @ScottWinters 7 днів тому

      I would look for a good endless loop string. There are so many offerings it’s hard to say on what brand to go with. The bow string should be a 55 or 56 inch string. You always ho at least 2 to 3 inches shorter than the overall length of the bow. I hope that helps. Thank you for your time and the question. Have a great evening. Best regards
